When i first played the game, i couldn't work out how to work the popper. Spent ages in the editor in the submarine ship frustrated. Surely its not a weapon that lands a mortar on the ground right in front of you. It was only when i started targetting units the way you should about six months later that i realised "ohhhh thats how it works".

The term "Laser Aquisition Targetting" is so wrong...

Yea that would be a Laser Popper, you were using a Radar Popper.

Does the laser popper actually follow the reticle? There's a laser popper in patch13.pak now, but i've never seen the difference.

Ok guys, I will try to explain it from a different view. Most of you are very experienced player, in your case i agree this balance. But there are many beginner of us, who cannot beat with a quill/statis scout a chaingunned scout. Perhaps a quill with deflection.

Because we are mortals, and dont play this game that often. But its a clever game, thats way we like it.

This is true in any game that's been around for awhile, and even more so for any game that's gone through player-supported patching.  The evolution of a game is such that a lot of times new players can't enter the game a year or so after its release due to the learning curve and experience gap between a newb and a vet.

I think this is why so many promising games start out strong and then seem to fade away.

For BZ2 the trick is to play Instant, starting out on Easy and against the same race.  Work your way up to winning Hard against another race and you'll be ready...

That's because they are dangerous! If only the scions had mortars on their hover tanks...

Which is exactly what 1.3pb is; a massive corporate cover up for the re release of a game from 10 years ago, in which they will be able to say they had a developmental cycle of 10 years with results, which is probably the second longest to Duke Nukem Forever, except with results in this case. The initial launch of BZ2 was an alpha...we've been played the fool!

I feel that the mauler rush is a bit too powerful... 12000 health on a recycler goes down too fast.... Managed to use 2 maulers, and killed a rec defended by 2 rocket tanks....  In addition to blink, I feel it imbalances the scion v isdf game.

Which is weird when I hear the complaints about Maulers getting their asses kicked now by GTs and such since they GTs no longer get distracted by the dead carcasses.

Im seeing a lot of this "i owned someone once, the games not balanced" recently...

'Once' isn't an issue. FE rebalanced recyclers to 15000 health specifically because of the mauler issue. I'm open to a balance discussion about it with other players that play strat games, of course, but as a player who primarily picks scions in strat games, I feel it's a bit too easy to mauler rush.

Ill jump ahead of time and copy & paste GSH saying 'Recycler Variant'.

Remember FE is a mod, not stock

If the balance is good, why are there so few Ts games with scion vs Isdf? For me it is 1 game for every 10.
