In my recent BZ1.4 experience, I'd noticed the apparent development of LAN play over TCP/IP as opposed to the obsoleted IPX. NICE... ummmm.... what about the next logical step? Would it be similar to the orginally intended MODEM PLAY, or some version of EXTENDED LAN-TCP/IP, to be able to play WAN via the TCP/IP "LAN" Serverless BZ? But I don't know that, that would SERVE(R) the BZ community....

I'd like to see that for one on one, or 'head to head' strat play... I mean, Mower and I used to play head to head all the time and with just the two of us lag never really became an issue (he was on dialup but it was good dialup...)

I've done . . .maybe . .30 hours total of LAN IPX (with a crossover cable) strat between two PC's and it was VERY nice. There's little to none of the normal endgame Mexican jumping beans.

you cannot beat LAN play... it has as much lag as in the sp missions (read: NONE). I should know, because that is the only way I can play it mp...

Welcome!
I had heard a little about this and there are services that will packetize IPX to allow "lan" games over the Internet. I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head but someone will remember (smart bunch of guys here).

I use LAN mode between my desktop and laptop when testing network code. It's great.

Garena is another one, but Garena only support a handfull of games, if we could get battlezone in to Garena we would have a lot more players.

I would agree, if BZ supported anything other than the defunct HEAT network, we'd see more players. Another LAN over Internet option is Kali. I remember using it 10 years ago but it's still around. http://www.kali.net. Eddy
