Is it possible to install pb 5.1 without c++.
when I install everything, my comp. shuts down suddenly when playing pb 5.1.
I also was having problem with earlier patches on different installs. after uninstalling 5.1 the other patches went back to normal.
from what I remember it installs two versions of c++, if it has to be installed does both versions need to be installed?
I am running windows xp sp2.

1, yes you need the cpp libs.
2, i find that when the installer pops up, if repair is an option, I can cancel it.
3, cpp libs would not cause that issue.

Not really, but when you removed 5.1 you didn't remove the CPP libs.

I can only think user error, since 5,1 cant effect other versions and all the adjacent software that went in with it stayed in when you removed 5.1 .

yes I did remove the cpp after I deleted the 5.1 patch.
I noticed the problems I was having with other installs was corrected after removing cpp.
the problem was shutting down like 5.1, the pb4a works fine now, but not when I had 5.1 installed. it may not have been cpp, but what I do know is that it does not shut down any more.

Interesting.
Can you provide a lot more info so others can help. I think I am at the end of my experience.

thanks N1 for your input.

what type of info do you need.
I was thinking of reinstalling it to see what happens again.
I just redownloaded it again.

this install works good so far.
the first time I installed it, I copied from a clean install on my hd.
this time I installed it from the cd.
as long as it keeps working.
I also redownloaded the patch, maybe I had a bad download.
