I'm hoping to get you guys's thoughts on a couple of questions.

What is the purpose of life?
What is the end to which all humans should try to move in this life?

Depends on what you mean by life. If you mean an individual life, then that is up to the individual.

It is either that, or we are simply not allowed to know.

Oh gosh I am so going to be flamed...

In this life, to worship the Lord God and spread Christianity, while in the next to forever worship the Lord God. (and I don't mean an endless church service. You don't have to stand up and sing to worship)

Thank You,

Clavin's right. Those pesky godless Africans have nothing better to do with their time than to be converted.

The film is nowhere near as good as the book(s).

The purpose of life is to exist.

Our end in life is to have played our part in the continuation of the species (read: have kids)

I'm pretty sure that was the answer to life... and the universe and everything.

I always had somewhat of a quarrel with the "purpose is to serve God" idea. I'm a Roman Catholic and our catechism says something to a similar effect. My question is, if our sole purpose is to worship Him, why then did He make us capable of not worshiping Him? If I wan't to make a table, I'm going to make one that is always a table. I don't want it all of a sudden deciding to be a chair and changing on me right before dinner.

It seems to me that He didn't just want more servants and worshipers. He wanted someone who could genuinely appreciate all that He has created. A quote keeps popping into my head that I don't think speaks of God, but fits nonetheless.
"Companions, the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks -- those who write new values on new tablets."

An artist loves to have his work appreciated. He likes it even better when a fellow artist is appreciating it, because that companion artist can understand the true talent of imagination and interpretation that went into the piece.

Life to me is all about appreciating what I experience. Basically live it up. Try new things, try everything! If you don't like it, fine. If you do, great!
