Two things I've noticed with a clean install:

1) I get a hard pause on screen when voice overs start to play, almost everythime. Running Windows XP MCE, Creative SB Audigy sound card with latest drivers 2.18.011.

2) Tunnels in single player games still not working in early missions. Been weird for awhile but after recently replaying the missions notice that when you "search for hostiles" in the tunnel it still spits you out midway thru.

If either of these have been already discussed since the release I might have missed it.

Sounds like audio isn't being pre-loaded, or its just taking a long time on your system... not sure what to do here.

That tunnel issue is actually the broken service bay, some fixes to code a while ago meant that dodgy-made buildings like that one started acting a little screwy, and no-ones fixed it yet.

Here's one - if console logging is turned on (console.log 1), and the player tries to /pinglist in the multiplayer shell, the Battlezone II v1.3 application terminates.

I noticed this with that IP grabbing thing whatever the name for it may be. otherwise, without the IP grabbing tool, I have console logging on as well and I always type /pinglist.

Assuming that's what you're running...

Not, I'm not running anything except battlezone2 1.3... Turning console logging on via the console.

Apparently I just discovered that 5.1 isn't compatible with AMD Duron processors as the 5.1 patch tell me that specifically. When I try to install it When did this change as 1.3 runs just fine as well as the original 1.0, 1.2, FE. What a drag.

PB4a was a major switch to stop supporting OLD pc's, as it requires a processor made in the last decade (SSE) so that it has better performance. A new processor might not cost too much in and of itself.

Even though your processor supports SSE.

Jesus, people will be asking for compatibility with ME next!

ME support would be nice as I run BZII under ME on an older laptop. It appears that ME will run up to PB4 which is better then nothing at all. AMD calls it's version of SSE as 3D Now or something like that, but PB5.1 or whatever it's called no likey 3D Now from AMD.

As far as I know there are probably only 2 people still running bz2 on ME, you and Shane Ward...Much easier for you to stop doing that than it is for GSH to build in support for an old OS that that is well past its use by date.

Note for the single player campaign, "On thin Ice" is next to impossible once you get the recycler through the ice field.  I have to resort to sniping to survive if just for a few moments once I deploy the recycler.  The scions just keep on coming.  Makes the single player campaign a challenge again.

Yes, you get that issue too?

I posted somewhere what to do on that one part. Make a nav way far back behind recy, send stasis there, have turrets in good spot and pump those pods and hope you get lucky. Took me a lot of tries, mostly succeeds if you can intercept the 1-2 scouts pretargeting the truck, but the rest eating your recy can be hard unless you keep grabbing those pods. Eventually they get worn down and a single gun tower is all it really takes; all the scrap those things leave makes for a huge base fast.

Its certainly surprisingly challenging compared to the rest of the sp campaign but it is far from "impossible". As soon as you know what to expect you just pump out 5 turrets, placed well to protect rec and transport and have 2 scavs bath in the ocean of scrap the scions will deliver.

I got through that one alright, just remember that theres a scrap pool behind the hill when you deploy the recycler and you should be OK. The one I have trouble with is that one on Rend with the titans... eurgh.
